Generally, how does it work?
Every month the challenge sponsor commits to make a financial donation to the benefiting nonprofit after the challenge is complete. The amount that they donate is tied to the squat goals so the more squats donated, the more money the beneficiary will receive! All you have to do is donate squats. It is free to participate so share with your friends and together we will reach the challenge goals faster! Each month there is a new theme, a new set of goals, a new sponsor, and a new benefiting nonprofit. Are you ready? Check out the current challenge and donate squats now!
Who can participate?
Everyone is invited to participate! You, your friends, your coworkers, your workout buddies, your crazy aunt…. everyone!
How do I participate?
To participate, simply do squats then DONATE your squats on the Give A Squat™ page. Submit them daily, weekly, or once a month. There is no registration. There is no fee. There is no requirement for providing your name or contact information. There is no squat requirement. Even a single squat helps us get closer to reaching the squat goals.
If you are interested in connecting with other people who #GiveASquat, downloading workout printables, learning more about the cause, finding out who is topping the leaderboard, staying up-to-date on the squat totals, sharing your progress, swapping tips, celebrating successes, or showing your support for this great program then JOIN the 30-Day #GiveASquat Fitness Challenge Facebook group!
Can I enter someone else’s squats?
Yes! Please let them know so they don’t enter them too. This is great if you do squats with other people or as part of a class. When you submit squats, enter the total amount. When it asks if you did all of them yourself, choose the appropriate option then if you choose to enter your name, you can specify how many you did so you get credit for the Leaderboard.
How do I get on the Leaderboard?
Participants who submit their name and email when they donate squats will be in contention for a place on the leaderboard.
How do I get a team or company on the Leaderboard?
When you donate squats, you can choose to give a team credit. Pick any from the list or add your own at the end of the form (we will add it to the list within a couple of days). Teams can be companies, organizations, branches, offices, gyms, schools, a hashtag or a made up name. If there is a Twitter handle, include that too so we can give the team shout-outs on Twitter and hopefully more people will participate, keeping that team on the Leaderboard.
Why does Cerno do this?
Cerno is a mission-driven company. We work primarily with other companies and their employees so we wanted to find a way to reach the everyday person and provide them with a fun way to get moving more so they too can experience the benefits of improved fitness and movement. (Movement, especially in nature, helps stimulate creativity and innovative thinking which helps us achieve more in our personal and professional lives.)
We also believe in giving back through good citizenship which is why it made perfect sense to select a different awareness theme and a deserving 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to benefit from each challenge.
How does Cerno select beneficiaries?
Beneficiaries of the Give a Squat™ program must be registered 501(c)3 nonprofits and align with Cerno’s overall mission and goals. Know a great nonprofit? Let us know!
How can my company become a sponsor?
There are opportunities to sponsor a 2017 challenge so contact us to get signed up!
